Von Willebrand Disease Working Group

Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) is the most common and one of the most complex inherited bleeding disorders. Establishing a dedicated European Working Group will be essential for addressing several critical aspects of this condition. To this end, several well-established and internationally recognized experts from across Europe have been approached, all of whom have acknowledged the importance of this initiative and agreed to join the Working Group. This group brings together a European network of healthcare professionals, laboratory scientists, and researchers with expertise in VWD.

Our primary goal is to advance knowledge and improve clinical understanding of VWD, with a focus on the following key areas:

  • Raising awareness of VWD among healthcare professionals and the public
  • Understanding the epidemiology and global impact of the disease
  • Characterizing the demographics and clinical bleeding profiles of affected individuals
  • Investigating laboratory phenotypes and the genetic basis of VWD
  • Evaluating treatment strategies and their impact on patients’ quality of life
